Reunion 2011

The 2011 reunion will be held on Friday 24th June in Hostau. The solemn Pontifical Mass will be celebrated width H.H. Archbishop Dr. Alois Kothgasser.

Reunion 2009

Again in 2009 the Hostau Community will get together at the place of his geografic roots. At 12th June 2009 very reverend abbot Gregor Zippel will celebrate the Pontifical Mass.

Hostau – the History of a Parish in Bohemia 1836-1938

Hostau, a small Bohemian town between the Egerland and the Bohemian Forest is subject of this bilingual publication (German and Czech). The thesis at the University of Salzburg (Catholic School of Theology) derived from the second memorial book of the deanery of Hostau, it actually constitutes two books, and was written from 1836 to 1938 by the respective priests of the time.

The idea to uncover hidden historic aspects, in order to make them accessible to oneself and other people was the motive behind making the history of the parish in Hostau the subject of this thesis.

This present thesis wants to help promote the reconciliation between Czechs and Sudeten-Germans. The aim is to set and further develop old values, which connect and unite these two ethnic groups. This endeavor should strengthen communication and cooperation between former and present inhabitants of Hostau.
